Whether you are a young bachelor starting his first job, a mother of five kiddies or a retired hubby traveling the country, each and every one of us knows all too well how difficult it can be to keep your car clean and tidy. Here are ten simple tips to help you maintain a clean and organised car as you go about your daily lifestyles.
Clear Out Rubbish
Before you bring out the vacuum machine and strong cleaning supplies, clear out all obvious rubbish. Empty water bottles, old receipts and food wrappers always tend to make their way into the cracks in the rush of daily life. Thoroughly check under the seats, in your door panels and on the floor before you begin deep cleaning.
Shake Out Floor Mats Regularly
Your floor mats trap all the dirt and dust that your shoes traipse into your car. Make a point of regularly dusting off your mats. Not only will this make vacuuming easier, but it will also keep your car cleaner for longer. Once in a while, scrub them with hot water and foaming carpet cleaner, and allow them to airdry before returning to your car. Floor mats are important for the longevity of your car, so take care of them.
Wipe Away Grime
It is important to frequently wipe away the dust and dirt that tends to settle softly on your car surfaces. All too often, we ignore those irritating drink spills, lunch crumbs and mud stains until its too late. By gently wiping down your console, steering wheel and the areas between your seats, you can easily re-establish that new-car-look. Here at Chemstart, we have a multitude of professional cleaners to help keep your car cleaner for longer
Attack Stains Immediately
This is most important in cars with material seats. Instead of overlooking stains and spills until a later stage, be prepared to clean up the mess as soon as it happens. This way you can avoid those embarrassing blotches and extend the longevity of your car.
Wipe Down Car Windows
Our little kiddies and furry fluff balls oft times leave sticky fingers and wet-nose marks all over the windows making your car appear dirtier than it may actually be. By simply wiping down your windows with a general window cleaner, you can make your car look that much cleaner in minutes.
Clean Out Cup Holders
Cup holders are infamous for becoming grimy very quickly from sticky coffee cups, or even because they are a great little place to store rubbish. Throw away your cool drinks as soon as you get out of the vehicle so that the condensation doesn’t drip down and collect dust and dirt. Keep a cloth in your glove compartment so you can regularly wipe out your cup holders.
Freshen Up your Car
Cars always feel cleaner when they smell good. No one wants to sit in a car that smells like an old gym bag or takeaway packet. Whether you keep a car scent stick in your car, or wipe down the surfaces with a scented cleaner, make sure there is always a fresh and clean scent lingering in your car.
Every Time you Leave, Take Something Out
The easiest way to keep your vehicle clean is to frequently clear it out whenever you get out. Oft times out of laziness, we allow our cars to become our local storage unit. So, instead of allowing the clothing items, play toys and petrol tickets to collect all over the car, make a point of removing one thing from your car each time you exit.
Use Car Organisers
The proof is in the word – organisers will naturally keep your car… organised. There are several organisers designed to hang on the back of your seat, or sit comfortably in your glove compartment. Use these organisers and to store your essential items but don’t be tricked into overloading these compartments with nonessential items.
Keep Food Contained
Of course, the easiest way to keep your vehicle clean would be to not eat in it at all. But most of us always get caught up in the rush of daily life, and find ourselves scoffing down a quick sandwich on the way to our next business meeting or kids extramural. Make a point of bringing a container and napkin along to catch the crumbs and clean up any saucy spills. More importantly, if the container is sealable, this prevents rubbish and crumbs from ending up on the floor.
